Is there a way to have OI Update use a different browser than the built-in one? I use the Steel browser almost exclusively now, but when OI Update wants to take me to the appstore site, it automatically uses the built-in browser each time. Am I missing something?
update with Update browser choice
Hi,
OI Update just starts a VIEW action, so it seems like an issue with the steel browser that does not handle the intent send by OI Update. OI Update does not know anything about browsers.
Does it work for a particular application with Steel?

I think you're asking, "Does the prompt for which browser to use come up in other applications?"
The answer is yes. OI Update is the only app I've encountered so far where I don't get the browser choice.
I will pass on your comment to the Steel developer; it will probably make more sense to him than it does to me. :D
Tried it but it worked
Hi,
I tried the Steel browser in the emulator together with OI Update, and for me it worked well: I was given a choice.

So I don't know what the difference to your system is...

AndAppStore?
When you say, appstore, do you mean AndAppStore.com, or do you mean the Market?
In case of the AndAppStore.com, a generic http:// link is used, so you should be prompted for a choice, unless you had set one browser as your default one (you can undo that in Home Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Browser > Clear defaults).
For Market, the market:// links may be used, but they do launch the Market application, not the browser, as far as I understand.

Yes, I meant AndAppStore.com (sorry I wasn't clear). I don't have a browser default set ("no defaults set" shows and I can't even click on the "clear defaults" button). Yet, OI Update still launches the standard browser without giving me a choice like other apps do.
