You can hit Menu -> "Switch mode" at the password prompt to switch between normal field entry or the keypad.

In the list of categories, press Menu > More > Change Master Password to change to a password that only contains numbers.

You can also use Menu > More > Settings > Keypad to switch between numeric keypad or normal field entry.
