Problem: text file exported by Password Safe 3.18 and 3.22 cannot be imported imported into OI Safe 1.2.4. The minimal documentation instructs Password Safe users to export their passwords as a csv file. Are the developers of OI Safe really associated with Password Safe, as they claim? You'd think they'd know that Password Safe 3 only exports in previous formats, plain text (tab delimited), or xml. There's no native csv option in Password Safe. There is an option to save as csv after you have selected "plain text", but the csv file is saved in tab delimited, not comma delimited, form.
Not a big deal. I import the tab-delimited txt/csv into OpenOffice 3.2 Calc or MS Office 2007 Excel (have done it both ways), identify the fields, check to make sure the data in the fields lines up correctly, and export the data in csv format. I check the format of the file-- good, the first row has field names separated by commas, successive rows nicely alligned data with the right number of commas to keep fields straight. I rename the file "oisafe.csv", and put it my HTC Evo's /sdcard/ directory.
When I open OI Safe, provide the database password, and select the "import database" option, it fails with the error "First line is missing fields". I can view the file /sdcard/oisafe.csv with Astro with Android, or any number programs in Windows 7-- the first line contains the field names, with each field separated by comma. When I try to view anything within OI Safe (if even present), I see the error "No categories present".
I've exported my PS data several times, have uninstalled/reinstalled OI Safe, and have tried importing data a half dozen times, with identical results. The fields OI Safe are missing are present as clear as day-- any ideas? Thanks
