What Settings Should Be Used for Exporting CSV from OpenOffice Calc to OI Shopping List?

There are many different options available when exporting CSV files, I am surprised that the required settings are not posted as part of the FAQ. Could someone please do this?

I had to send my Shopping Lists to my gmail, which I have then cut and paste just the text into Open Office.org Calc. I did a Find and Replace to remove the "[ ]"'s at the beginning of each column. I have attempted saving this sheet as .csv three different times with different options, and when I save it onto my SD card to import using OI File Viewer, I get a message "Wrong CSV format."

The options that should be noted include:

Character Set (Unicode)
Separator Options:
Fixed Width (i'm guessing not)
Or Separated By: Tab/Semicolon/Space/Comma
Text Delimiter: "
Quoted Field as Text?

Since these options are going to be standard, could you please post which options we should be using in creating our CSV files so that we can import them easily and quickly? (And/or know that we're doing everything right, but something else is wrong?!)

Thank you!!!
Carrie Anne

Sad I had to answer my own question, but finally figured it out

The correct formatting of the CSV file when importing to OI Shopping looks like this:

"Subject","% Complete","Categories"
"Insect repellent",0,"My shopping list"
"Two-hole 1/2"" straps",1,"Hardware Store List"
"Polyurethane",1,"Hardware Store List"
"Make granola bars",0,"Stuff to do"
"Sew atreyu's cars backpack",0,"Stuff to do"
"Ice Cream Scoop",0,"Hardware Store List"
"Candle hurricanes",0,"Hardware Store List"
"Mulch",1,"Hardware Store List"

My file only had the first column of this, and it didn't have the first header row. So using something like Excel or Spreadsheet, ADD the header row, then populate the %Complete field with 0 or 1.

0 means it appears on your list, 1 means it's on the list, but checked off. Didn't test leaving it empty - that might import it but keep it off the picked list. Then name the column that you're importing the title of your list.

Hope that helps some folks!
Happy listing! ;)
